Re: Walz at NWCA All-Star Classic (he lost) ......

Exactly as Hokietony said.

They could have moved Haught or Cook up to 285 if absolutely necessary. Probably Cook because you lock in the win with Haught at 197 first. But then Cook could be giving up 50 lbs or more to the Edinboro or VMI starters. Not only a big disadvantage, but also a real injury risk with that type of weight spread. Not worth it at all with comfortable team wins already secured. If we were talking about putting in a back-up and bumping up at any other weight class, then the coaches almost certainly would have done it. The back-up guys are chomping at the bit for any chances to start.

I mentioned before, but will add here. The depth behind Walz is not active this year. Dunn is training but taking it light on his surgically repaired shoulder. He could be available to wrestle live in or after December. But with Walz in place, ideally Dunn remains redshirted so he has 4 years of eligibility left once Walz graduates.

Helm is no longer on the team due to a non-wrestling-related health issue. Hopefully, he will return to the team next season, but probably not this year.
